Trevaskis Consulting is a property management consultancy offering a range of specialised services to landlords, tenants and managing agents both in the public and private sector.

Trevaskis Consulting was established by Sally Trevaskis BA (Hons) MBA in 2000, after a successful career managing public sector housing, and focussed on helping organisations teams and people improve their performance through consultancy, training and facilitation. Ian Thompson BSc FRICS, joined Trevaskis Consulting in 2005 following a successful career in the private sector as a Chartered Surveyor and managing private residential property.

Together Sally and Ian bring a unique blend of public and private, people and buildings senior management experience. Trevaskis Consulting is therefore well placed to support a wide range of property related organisations to help them better manage both their teams and properties throughout England and Wales.

Ian Thompson BSc FRICS

Ian Thompson is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 30 years professional experience of both building surveying and residential management and is a Director of Trevaskis Consulting.

Ian is an expert in leasehold management and his key personal skills are:

  • Skilled and experienced project manager
  • Clear and concise written communicator
  • Ability to work to exacting deadlines
  • Task focused; will get the job done

Ian Thompson has an extensive knowledge and experience of residential landlord and tenant matters as he managed large portfolios of Central London mansion blocks for a variety of clients.

Ian Thompson is a Professional Member of the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal and sits on the London and South East Panels. Ian also regularly presents cases to the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal, acting as an advocate on behalf of landlord and lessee clients.

Ian Thompson BSc FRICS

Ian Thompson has expertise in all aspects of building surveying services from project management to structural surveys, party wall matters and dilapidations. Working within both the public and private sectors, he has built up an expert knowledge in the repair and refurbishment of a wide range of building types.

Ian is a fellow of the RICS and his membership details can be viewed on the RICS website

Ian Thompson uses his specialist knowledge of landlord and tenant legislation and repairs and maintenance to assist courts, tribunals and clients in the role of expert witness and is a member of the Expert Witness Institute.

Ian was among the first an RICS accredited Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mediators, and now performs this role for a number of clients.

Ian Thompson is a regular trainer with ARMA - the Association of Residential Managing Agents and has recently presented training courses on reading and understanding a property lease.

Prior to joining Trevaskis Consulting in 2005 as a Director and Senior Consultant Ian Thompson had a very successful career in the private sector as a Chartered Surveyor. His last post was with Dunlop Haywards from 1995 where he rose from Associate to Director by 1999.

Ian Thompson BSc FRICS

With Dunlop Haywards Ian worked with both public and private sector clients and managed both large building surveying and residential management teams.

As a director of building surveying Ian lead multi-disciplinary teams that delivered services to the private sector, primarily working on asset management and building refurbishment for a wide range of individual and investment clients. Ian and his team were responsible for the preparation of five to ten year cycle maintenance programmes and the procurement and administration of refurbishment projects to both the building fabric and building services.

Ian Thompson also has extensive experience in the management of residential portfolios, culminating in being appointed operational head of a team responsible for the management of 13,000 units.

Prior to joining Dunlop Haywards, Ian worked in both the public and private sectors including the management of a direct labour organization within a major London teaching hospital. From 1990 to 1995, Ian set up practice on his own, gaining experience in all aspects of business management, before merging with Dunlop Haywards.

When not working Ian likes walking, skiing, travelling, music, sailing, reading and the odd snifter at a really good country pub.

About Sally Trevaskis

Sally Trevaskis BA(Hons) MBA

Sally Trevaskis specialises in helping organisations, teams and individuals improve their performance through consultancy, trainingand facilitation. Sally’s work background is an interesting mixture of public and private sector housing management and her key personal skills are:

  • excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • an original, innovative thinker who can put ideas into practice
  • clear and concise written communicator
  • skilled group facilitator
  • people focused and able to work as part of a senior management team

As a consultant Sally worked with a number of other organisation including Housing Quality Network, HouseMark, Jenkins Duval and ValueAdding.com. Sally also developed and wrote the ‘Performance Management Workbook’ for the Housing Quality Network and launched it nationwide through a series of conferences.

Prior to establishing Trevaskis Consulting in 2000 Sally worked for WMS Haywards (now contained with the Residential Management Group Ltd). WMS Haywards was established as a vehicle to tender for and outsource Westminster City Council’s Housing Services Contracts.

Sally Trevaskis BA(Hons) MBA

As a Director Sally Trevaskis lead on a number of critical cross group strategic management projects such as establishing the Business Planning Framework, setting up and managing the Human Resources function and putting in place business systems such as Health and Safety and Environmental policies.

As Head of the Housing Management Service for Westminster City Council Sally Trevaskis managed the contractor services of the Housing Department and was responsible for the strategic and day to day operation of the in-house housing management service which contained 150 staff, an annual turnover of £4.5m and a capital and revenue works programme of £36m.

Sally Trevaskis was directly responsible for the management of a team of eight project and policy officers, the Business Planning process; the Finance, Human Resources, Training, internal and external communications functions; the development of best practice and competitive tendering across the whole organisation (including housing management, homelessness and housing advice, housing with support, leasehold management and homeownership. Sally and her team successfully achieved Investors in People during this time.

Sally Trevaskis BA(Hons) MBA

Westminster City Council ensured that there was a very competitive market for their local authority housing management services and Sally Trevaskis wrote, priced, negotiated and presented the in-house teams tenders for the housing management contracts through a lengthy competitive tendering process.

Sally has a passion for good design and also runs an internet retailing website called Lucas Bond.
